My Story

My professional career started in the Graduate School of Public and International Affairs at the University of Pittsburgh. In two years, I was lucky enough to get experience in several areas: newsletters, websites, collateral, advertising, archives, and most of all, special events. That foundation paved the way for a jump to legal marketing and then accounting marketing for several years. When I left in-house marketing in 2016, I was the marketing director for a regional accounting firm in Pittsburgh, PA. Along the way, I was active in several non-profits.

I went back to school for my MBA part-time and graduated in 2014 with high honors. That opened another door and allowed me to return to Pitt as a part-time instructor in addition to my day job. From 2014-2018, I was an adjunct faculty member in Pitt’s Department of English, teaching Written Professional Writing and Social Media for Business. In 2015, I completed a voluntary Faculty Seminar for Speaking in the Disciplines.

The end of 2016 marked a new beginning: I left my in-house marketing job to pursue … I didn’t know what. The birth of my son motivated me to take a big risk, and in the months that followed, I began freelancing. Those first few projects turned into long-term clients, and I figured it would be an ideal time to see if it made sense to do the self-employed gig full-time. Seventh Gear Communications LLC was made official in late spring 2017.

Fast forward to 2021, and the experiment is still a success. I have the pleasure of working with extremely talented, caring individuals across the country who trust me and this company with their social media, branding, marketing, and more. The journey thus far has been equal parts exciting, challenging, and fulfilling.

Outside of work, my family and I love to spend time outdoors. Hiking is a favorite activity, and during the “COVID summer” we found so many new places to explore. I am a mom to three kids, one who is about to go out on his own and two preschoolers, and we have two cats. I love traveling, visiting wineries and breweries, reading, and kickboxing.
